Medications
If you are taking the following medications, we will arrange an appointment before we prescribe the medications to discuss how best to reduce and stop these medications, if you are our patient. These medications include:
· Sleeping tablets such as Zopiclone and Temazepam
· Opioids such as Codeine, Tramadol and Morphine
· Gabapentin and Pregabalin
· Diazepam and other benzodiazepines.
Shared Care Agreements
(Shared Care is when a Specialist asks a GP practice to take on responsibility for prescribing and monitoring medications usually only issued by Specialists)
From the 1st of November 2024, Fenham Hall Medical Group will only accept shared care agreements for certain drugs, from Newcastle Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
We have reviewed this policy due to the growing number of requests from increasingly large numbers of providers.
These requests have increased workload and impacted on our ability to deliver core services to patients.
We will continue to engage with the Commissioners regarding our concerns. Whilst we do so, we will continue to honour agreements we have already signed up to.
Northern Gender Dysphoria Service
Fenham Hall Medical Group is able to take blood under the direction of a shared care agreement, but we will not be able to prescribe any hormones.
