People aged 55 to 74 who have ever smoked (current or ex-smokers who have smoked 100 or more cigarettes in their lifetime) will be invited to a Lung Health Check.
A Lung Health Check is to help assess the health of your lungs. It has two steps (although not everyone proceeds to step two):
Step One:
It begins with a telephone call with a nurse specialist. They will ask you questions about your health and lifestyle. This is to understand your chances of developing lung cancer. If this shows you are at low risk of developing lung cancer, you will not be invited for a scan. If this shows that you are more likely to develop lung cancer, you will be invited for a quick scan (step two). If a face to face appointment is preferred, translator service or any other reasonable adjustments then the LCS booking team can be contacted and they will help to arrange this for you.
Step Two:
You will have a CT scan of your chest at one of the mobile units in the area. This scan will capture a detailed picture of your lungs.
