NHS England will send paper letters to people who do not get their results by NHS App.
The NHS Cervical Screening Programme is introducing digital communications, and all Cervical Screening invitations, reminders and normal results have now moved to a new digital process i.e. NHS app.
In June 2025, they started sending digital invites and reminders to all eligible people, and from September started sending normal results via the app:
• First, an NHS App message is sent. This will appear as an NHS App notification.
• If you don’t have notifications switched on for the NHS App, you may also receive an SMS message to remind you to check the NHS App.
• If the NHS App message isn’t read within 72 hours of delivery or for those where a digital communication isn’t possible, a physical letter will be posted as a backup.
Invitations will still direct people to book in the usual way.
